UBS China Partnership Visited the Catholic Church in China

By invitation of CCPA/CCBC (China Catholic Patriotic Association/China Catholic Bishops’ Conference), the Singapore’s delegation of seven from UBS China Partnership, led by Mr. Kua Wee Seng visited China CatholicChurch from Oct. 9 to 14, 2012. In the afternoon of Oct. 9, Bishop Fang Xingyao, the Chairman of CCPA and Vice-Chairman of CCBC, Bishop Ma Yinglin, Chairman of CCBC and Vice-Chairman of CCPA, Mr. Liu Yuanlong, Vice-Chairman cum Secretary General of CCPA, Bishop Guo Jincai, Vice-Chairman of CCPA and Secretary General of CCBC, received the delegation warmly at CCPA/CCBC and had an discussion together. Father Yang Yu, Vice-Secretary General of CCBC, and the directors of foreign affairs department and  educational administration department of CCPA/CCBC also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Bishop Fang welcomed the UBS China Partnership delegation and thanked UBS for their support and help in Bible translation and publication for the China Churches over many years. At the same time, the donation of Bible Medical Vans helped the China churches to develop social, charitable activities, which enabled more believers to read and study the Bible, helping them to strengthen their faith and spread the Gospel.

In his speech, Bishop Ma hoped that in the future there would be more communication and co-operation between both sides, printing different Bible editions to meet the needs of different ages and races, thereby promoting the development of the ministry of China Catholic Churches in spreading the Gospel. The delegation expressed that they will continue to actively support the ministry of the Chinese Catholic Churches. The meeting was chaired by Bishop Guo Jincai.

During the period, the delegation visited SARA on Oct. 10, and was warmly welcomed by Director -General Ma Yuhong and leaders of SARA Foreign Affairs Department.

On the same day, the delegation visited National Seminary of Catholic Church in China. Father Li Shuxing, Executive Vice-Rector, Father Zhao Ziliang, Vice-Rector, and Father Zhang Qiulin, Dean, of the seminary received them.

The delegation visited Chengde on Oct 11 and 12. Bishop Guo Jincai of Chengde Diocese, received them and had a discussion with the delegation.  He introduced the ministry of the parishes in the eight counties and three districts in Chengde Diocese, and the designing and planning of the Bishop’s Residence project. Accompanied by the priests, the delegation visited the Bible Medical Van project in a parish in Chengde, the Imperial Summer Palace and Jin Shan Ling Great Wall.

The delegation visited Lingyi on Oct. 13 and 14. Accompanied by Bishop Fang Xingyao, they visited the ministry of Bible Medical Van in a parish, and had a Bible sharing and discussion session with local clergy and believers.

The delegation’s visit to CCPA/CCBC, Chengde and Lingyi Dioceses was accorded high regard and given warm reception by SARA and other related Provincial and Muncipal Government Departments. They witnessed and experienced the accomplishment and good development of the China Churches, and the freedom of belief and healthy development of religions in China. The delegation hoped they could continue to support the work of bible ministries in future, contributing to the spreading of gospel in China.
