With praise and thanksgiving to the Lord, we are pleased to share that in 2023, Bible Societies across the world distributed 152 million copies of Scriptures. These comprise 24.2 million full Bibles, 9.2 million New Testaments, and 118.6 million Scripture portions or selections.
The top 10 languages for Bible distribution were Spanish, English, Portuguese, Mandarin, Indonesian, Telugu, French, Tamil, Swahili, and Tagalog. These together accounted for 72% of the total full Bible distribution.
59% of all the Bibles distributed by Bible Societies were in 10 countries, with China having distributed the third highest number of Bibles (1.95 million Bibles) in 2023.
The gift of God’s Word to a world in crisis offers the good news of salvation with eternal impact. It is the commitment of the United Bible Societies (UBS) Fellowship to make the Bible accessible to diverse language communities across the globe, advancing their mission of “the Bible for everyone”.
We are humbled that through the global Bible Society movement, millions of people around the world have access to a Bible, not just in 2023, but over the past decade when nearly 300 million Bibles, 107 million New Testaments, and 2.5 billion Scripture portions, totalling almost 3 billion Biblical texts, have been distributed globally.
Let us pray for God’s Word to continue to be made available to people all over the world and for the life-giving Word of God to inspire and transform lives globally.
