At 98, Shi Has Found Her Way with the Bible
At 98 years old, Shi Yuying’s hands are weathered, her back slightly bent, but her eyes shine brightly with faith. For over three decades, she has walked with Jesus through hardship, loneliness, and physical exhaustion. It was only last year when she received a new Bible that changed her life in ways she never expected. More than a religious book, it is a precious gift that gives her eyes light, her heart hope, and her soul strength.
UBS Asian Bible Societies’ Leaders Trip to China, September 2024
From 8 to 16 September 2024, an eight-member delegation from the United Bible Societies (UBS), led by Secretary General Rev Dirk Gevers, visited Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing in Jiangsu province, and Kunming in Yunnan province. The delegation met with leaders of the religious affairs authorities, the Protestant and Catholic churches, two theological institutions, and Amity Printing Company. In all these meetings, UBS and our Chinese partners reaffirmed our shared mission to make the Bible available, accessible and affordable to the Christians and churches in China.

The Blessing of Scripture Literacy
With an unmistakable sense of joy, 80-year-old Wu Huaijie (pseudonym used) shares about the Scripture Literacy class she joined at her local church. She is deeply grateful for the class which offers individuals like her a second chance at learning to read and write. Though Wu was raised in a Christian family, her inability to read has limited her spiritual growth for many years. Today, she is able to read the Bible quite well and doing so has brought immeasurable joy to her life!

Bibles for the Churches in Guangxi Province
It was a joy for United Bible Societies (UBS) to support the Guangxi Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement in the distribution of Bibles among the churches in Guangxi province. Many of the believers were grateful to receive a personal copy of the Bible, expressing their excitement and longing to read God’s Word. We give thanks to God for the gift of His Word and pray that the lives of those who received the Bibles will be firmly rooted in the truths of God’s Word as they read it regularly.
From Addiction to Redemption
Amidst the chaos and despair of life, Bao Xueliang had lost all hope and was in desperation when he went to the "Home of Love Fellowship" where the warmth of the hymns and the kindness of believers offered him new hope. There, he also received a copy of the Bible in his native Wa language. He was drawn to the love, wisdom and truth found in the Bible. It became his anchor, guiding him away from destructive habits and toward a newfound discipline and peace as he grew in his relationship with God. The Bible became his constant companion, offering him comfort and strength. It not only saved him from addiction but also ignited his passion for learning and sharing God’s Word.
